WPI Recreation Center
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) selected Cardinal Construction Inc. as it’s Owner’s Project Manager for the design and construction of a Sports and Recreation Center project. The new Sports and Recreation Center offers WPI students, faculty, and staff a two-story fitness center housing cardio equipment, circuit training machines and free weights, a competition pool, a four-court gymnasium, a three-lane indoor jogging track, fitness activity rooms for programs such as yoga and dance, racquetball courts, squash courts, and a large venue for academic and community events. The Recreation Center was constructed in accordance with LEED Silver-Level certification requirements.
Gateway Park – Life Sciences Building
Cardinal provided Owner’s Project Management services for the WBDC and WPI on the core/shell of the new five level office and laboratory addition (87,000 sq-ft) at 60 Prescott Street, and renovations to the existing five level laboratory and office building (38,000 sq-ft) at 68 Prescott Street. This project has received the 2007 Phoenix Award and also won a National Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
WPI East Residence Hall
In conjunction with The Worcester Center for Performing Arts, Inc. (WCPA), Worcester Business Development Corporation (WBDC) retained the services of Cardinal to provide Owner’s Project Management services for the renovation and restoration of the former Loew’s Poli Palace Theatre into a first-class 2300 seat performing arts center. The restored 56,000 sf-ft state-of-the-art center is now equipped to present large scale Broadway shows, concerts, music recitals, dance, comedy acts and other special events by internationally known artists.
Hanscom Air Force Base
Cardinal Construction Inc. provided project management, consulting services, and technical support on the design/build renovations and additions to the existing secure office building. The existing high level secure area remained occupied while 300,000 sq-ft, two level state of the art facility including offices, laboratories, high level security conference rooms, and research centers were being constructed. Cardinal Construction was responsible and successful to create and maintain an aggressive schedule for this fast track and time sensitive project.
Hanover Theatre

In conjunction with The Worcester Center for Performing Arts, Inc. Merrimack County House of Correction
Cardinal Construction assisted in the construction of a new 110,000 sq-ft, 237 bed design-build detention facility, including booking areas, training areas, public access, recreation housing, and an integrated security system and control room.
The Loomis Communities
Cardinal Construction assisted in the construction of 70 independent living units of senior housing offering both independent living and assisted living.
332 Main Street Apartments
Cardinal served as Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) on the renovation of the 332 Main Street in its conversion to apartments. The goal of this 103,000 sq ft project was to create apartments that are centrally located in downtown Worcester, as well as to create units that are of high quality and affordable. The project is a great addition to the rapidly expanding downtown of Worcester, Massachusetts.
